2026 July Price rise and more.

Something that always makes me super nervous is changing what we are doing here, and this year has been a corker. SO much has been ploughed over and replanted, it’s been a field day of change. Which is a comforting natural state for my wonderful wife and business partner Kate, but for me…eek.

Regardless of how I have felt, the changes are turning out better than I could have hoped for. My worries are mostly about who is going to be left behind. But the opposite has happened, we’ve picked up so many new customers, and staff numbers will be growing over the next few months. It is really exciting.

So the price rise…every July 1st we have a price rise. In the past we tried holding off for several years, only to need a big jump. And the big price jumps are the worst. This year is a little larger than our normal 4-8%, I am sure all the readers have felt the rumblings around the world, everyone has seen costs rise. Our key paper supplier has gone up 14% for one of their lines.

I am sorry to put the pressure back on you our customers, but I encourage you to take up this same policy of tackling a rise every year. You need to be in a sustainable business, as we do. If we all wanted to get rich, I’m sure we could find a quicker path than photography. It’s our 90th year and financially, I feel far from rich, but this is a wonderful industry.
