How do I design a translucent page?

Short

Translucent page is a soft, semi-transparent insert that goes in-between spreads. Its design can contain anything, however most people use it as an introductory page to their album.

Long

The sheet of a translucent page adheres to the album at the spine with a very small line of tape. If this tape is stuck onto a printed image area then it will show the image through the translucent page.

To ensure the best effect when having a translucent page, design your first spread to contain an image only on the right half with a white border. Consistent white underneath masks the tape.

Specifications of translucent page file

  • Dimensions exactly the same as your album size (for example 8 x 8” for 8 x 8” album)

  • Can contain colour if desired

  • Export as JPEG at 300dpi with white background (white will print semi-transparent)
