What is engraving and why can’t I choose a colour?
Short
Engraving is a process of applying a design to a surface. Many of our products can be engraved, including album covers, boxes, USBs, and envelopes.
Long
Each covering material engraves differently. We always encourage our clients to have sample chips made using their own logo. We include 5 for each new client for free and they are $10 each after that. We also offer a Sampler Book, which includes all pieces of materials available to you, with a sample engraving.
You can either make your own engraving design or use any of ours. We offer a beautiful range of designs for multiple occasions. We will add your clients’ names to the layout and send it to you for approval.

Why can’t I choose an engraving colour?
The colour of the engraving is determined by the material being engraved. Some materials will show the engraving design better than others. If you would like to see how the engraving will look on a specific material, you can order engraving sample chips in any material with your design or logo, or order an Album Cover Sampler book to show your clients the different choices.
How do I prepare a design for engraving?
You can use any preferred software, but there are certain specifications we need you to follow in order for your design to engrave well:
Set the document to be the size of your product
Keep your design black on a completely white background
Avoid using tiny, thin text, especially for smaller-size products
Export as JPEG at 300dpi
Supplying Album Cover Designs
We can engrave front, back and spine of an album separately, as well as do over-the-spine continual designs.
For front or back engraving, ensure to keep the spacer (22mm wide) area clear of any design.
For spine engraving, it might be hard to determine how wide it should be, as it depends on the spread amount and thickness. If unsure, ask us or go by your amount of spreads multiplied by 1.2mm.
For over-the-spine engraving, ask us for an appropriate template and supply the final file to us via email.
Supply your cover design as JPEG at 300 dpi at the size of your album.
